ACTION has been demanded by Jane Kennedy over the scandal of a 15-year wait by pupils to play on school playing fields at Kensington.
Jane first campaigned for the sports facilities in November 1992 when she urged North West Water to donate £300,000 towards turning the old reservoir site into a community sports facility for the people of Kensington.
Generations of children who wanted to play football on the pitches have since grown up without being able to kick a ball on the site.
Jane and local Labour councillor Liam Robinson are now demanding action from Kensington Community Sports Ltd and Liverpool Hope University to make the pitches fit for local kids.
The pupils from Kensington Junior School have to travel all the way out to Speke to use playing fields there instead!
Jane said: "I am totally fed up and astonished that nothing has happened to make these pitches fit for local children.
"It is costing the school a small fortune to rent out pitches in Speke, when their own pitches are unfit to play on. I am livid about it.
"All we have got so far is a string of broken promises and excuses and no-one appears willing to take any responsibility. It is an utter disgrace."
Jane says there should be a full investigation into all the circumstances and the involvement of Kensington Regeneration and Kensington Community Sports Limited who manage the adjoining sports centre.
She added:" I am very unhappy about this - I do not intend to let the matter rest. The kids desperately need somewhere to play and we need to find out what has gone on and who is responsible".
