EDGE HILL Credit Union in Kensington has been praised by MP Jane Kennedy for their work in helping local families.

Jane visited the group to hear from staff and voluinteers about the problems they face when trying to make money available to local people struggling in the recession.

Jane said:" They really are doing a fantastic job in Kensington which generally gets very little praise or attention.

"Both staff and volunteers are doing sterling work with the local community especially as the recession is hitting people hard. They are also working in very cramped conditions - and I have promised to do whatever I can to try and help."
