JANE Kennedy has welcomed the Budget's boost for work prospects in her Wavertree constituency.
She said a job guarantee scheme for young people and a £2,000 incentive to buy new cars would help increase employment propspects locally.
Chancellor Alistair Darling is guaranteeing that everyone under 25, who has been out of work for more than a year, will be offered either a job or high quality training.
He has also introduced a scheme to give car owners £2,000 if they buy a new car to replace a vehicle which is more than 10 years old.
Jane Kennedy said: "These are practical measures which will make a real difference to employment in Wavertree.
"In the 80's a whole generation of young people were left to rot by the Conservative government. We will not let that happen.
"I know too, that workers at the Jaguar plant in Halewood, which includes many of my constituents, will welcome the scheme to aid the car industry and the dozens of local suppliers who depend on the plant.
"We won't turn our backs on people when we are facing the worst global recession in history. There is also help in the Budget for pensioners, savers and businesses. It is only fair too that paying for this extra investment will be met by the people who are earning the most."
